Easy Crafts For Kids To Sell

Additional Craft Information:

A mini crib is the portable, lightweight version of the classic, full-sized crib. Portable mini cribs are often constructed from hardwoods but are lighter than conventional cribs because of their smaller size. Many popular models sport a traditional, linear design but would still look good in many modern houses and baby nurseries. Most models can be transformed to static cribs and toddler-beds, which is why they are also called “2-in-1 cribs”, which is in sharp contrast with 4-in-1 cribs that can be re-arranged to come up with a full sized bed.

DIY Craft Essential #1: Washi tape

You'd be surprised at how many things you can do, and how many tutorials out there are obsessed, with washi tape. The versatile paper tape with adorable designs makes great wall decor, paper crafts or can even spruce up your furniture.

DIY Craft Essential #2: Needle nose pliers

This tiny tool is great for small projects. "This is not only your go-to tool for opening and closing jump rings, bending wire, and securing crimp beads and ribbon ends, but pliers are also great for cutting through jewelry chain and wire," said Morin.

Like other wooden baby furniture, mini cribs require some degree of manual assembly before one can use them. This is fairly ordinary, since a fully-assembled crib would be very difficult to ship and transport to your home. So it's best to just follow easy instructions and assemble the crib yourself. One thing that should never be missing from the equation is the safety standards that the product has passed or exceeded. If no such declaration is made on the part of the retailer or manufacturer, one cannot be sure if the product is completely safe to use. Therefore, stick to retailers who are dedicated to providing quality products.

DIY Craft Essential #3: X-acto knife

If you love stationary crafts, jewelry crafts or any delicate work -- you'll need a proper cutting tool. Not all scissors can do the job. "Remember first using scissors and cutting along the dotted lines in grade school?" Morin asked. "Hopefully, you’re attempting more challenging crafts as an adults."

DIY Craft Essential #4: Spray paint

Acrylic paints are also great for any DIY starter kit. However, if you're looking for a perfect, seamless finish on your furniture, art and home decor -- make some space to spray. It doesn't hurt to keep some cans in your favorite colors (as long as you store them properly).

Added features that you should look for include an adjustable mattress system (spring-controlled) and a water-resistant mattress. However, some cribs may not include mattresses, so you would have to invest in a good, soft mattress for your little one. Other than the mattress, a small, portable crib would have everything your child needs for a fun day of play or a good night's sleep. You can separately purchase rails when converting the crib to a small bed. Before you make the final decision to purchase, make a last check on the wooden finish – is the wooden finish free from toxic chemicals like lead? If it is, it's truly a worthy investment.

DIY Craft Essential #5: Painter's tape

Painter's tape is "perfect for for attempting the color block trend," said Morin. Plus, you'll need something to keep your projects neat and tidy, no matter what type of paints you use.

DIY Craft Essential #6: Hot glue gun

There are some tools that are too functional not to have. "This is one DIY workhorse tool you shouldn't do without," said Morin. Hot melt glue works on a variety of materials.
