Greeting cards are a great way to show or tell someone that you love them and that they should have a special day ahead. Most of the time, people only give these cards to their friends and families on special occasions such as the holidays, valentines, weddings, ect. These cards may be a small thing but the messages they contain are much more important than any gift you can buy. It's relatively very easy to purchase a readymade, generic card in a gift store, but if you want to make it more special and meaningful, try make the card yourself.

DIY Craft Essential #1: Washi tape

You'd be surprised at how many things you can do, and how many tutorials out there are obsessed, with washi tape. The versatile paper tape with adorable designs makes great wall decor, paper crafts or can even spruce up your furniture.

DIY Craft Essential #2: Needle nose pliers

This tiny tool is great for small projects. "This is not only your go-to tool for opening and closing jump rings, bending wire, and securing crimp beads and ribbon ends, but pliers are also great for cutting through jewelry chain and wire," said Morin.

A customized greeting card allows you to make it your own. It lets you give the card a little touch of personalization and personality. The receiver will surely feel much more appreciated knowing that you took the time and effort to make the greeting card for them. Customized cards can range from handmade ones to easy printable ones which you can create using an editing software on the computer. The handmade ones take time to make. You have to get you old arts and crafts materials and start cutting and pasting different bits and pieces together and then write down the message to the person. This gives the card a more homemade feel. With printable greeting cards, you can manipulate and edit how the card will look like on the computer.

DIY Craft Essential #3: X-acto knife

If you love stationary crafts, jewelry crafts or any delicate work -- you'll need a proper cutting tool. Not all scissors can do the job. "Remember first using scissors and cutting along the dotted lines in grade school?" Morin asked. "Hopefully, you’re attempting more challenging crafts as an adults."

DIY Craft Essential #4: Spray paint

Acrylic paints are also great for any DIY starter kit. However, if you're looking for a perfect, seamless finish on your furniture, art and home decor -- make some space to spray. It doesn't hurt to keep some cans in your favorite colors (as long as you store them properly).

Customize greeting cards have many templates to choose from online or you can make a template from scratch. After, you can print the card out using a printer and you are good to go. The choice is up to you if you want to make it by hand or use computer templates. Either way, customized cards always mean something more.

A good way to customize a card is to use a photo. Customize greeting cards with photos inside or on the front cover are fun cards to make. You can use any photo you want. Most of the time, people would use photos that fit the theme of the card or the reason why they are giving the card. If the holidays are coming up, place a photo of a Christmas tree or presents. If it's Halloween, something scary or even a haunted house. For valentines, a heart or flowers. The choices are endless. People also use photos that are special to them such as locations, items and symbols. These photo greeting cards are entertaining and colorful ways to make a card more special.
